BHT Startup Hub successfully completes circular economy project A-B-Circular

New AI-powered tools support Berlin companies in sustainable transformation

The BHT Startup Hub at Berliner Hochschule für Technik has successfully completed the innovative A-B-Circular project. The 18-month initiative to promote climate-neutral “Made in Berlin” production concluded in October 2025 with the development of two groundbreaking digital tools for the circular economy – the Circular Builder and the Circular Designer.

Two new platforms for sustainable business

As the main outcome of the project, Berlin companies now have access to two specialized AI-powered platforms: Circular Builder and Circular Designer.

The Circular Builder supports actors in the construction and architecture sector with an interactive industry map and centralized data management for sustainable building materials and technologies. The tool significantly facilitates networking between architects, construction companies, and planning offices.

The Circular Designer targets the textile and fashion industry and offers a comprehensive material database as well as AI-powered design recommendations for sustainable product development.

Successful collaboration strengthens Berlin’s economy

The project, funded under the Industrial City Berlin Master Plan, brought together key partners including Circular Berlin, VORN – The Berlin Fashion Hub, HTW, and Impact Hub. Through numerous workshops and industry events, an active network of solution providers was established in the capital region.

“With A-B-Circular, we have successfully bridged the gap between research and practice,” explains the BHT Startup Hub. “The developed tools enable particularly small and medium-sized enterprises to implement circular economy strategies concretely and develop new sustainable business models.”

Sustainable contribution to the innovation region

The project makes an important contribution to Berlin’s ecological and digital transformation. The developed solutions strengthen resource efficiency and innovation capacity of the regional economy and further position Berlin as a leading technology and sustainability region.

The tools are now available to Berlin companies.
